This Is Not Ruin Porn

Despite what it looks like. So we are told by the editors at Life.com.

"Marlowe's task, of course, was not simply to photograph desolation. Well-aware of the risks facing anyone hoping to chronicle the fall of a great metropolis, he worked to avoid being just another purveyor of what Detroiters have come to call "ruins porn.""

Unfortunately, the 52 photos in the essay by Keith Marlowe aren't as convincing as the disclaimer. Not a single photo of an inhabited building or a real live person to be found. My question is why not just re-use Sean Hemmerle's Detroit photos?
